ABSTRACT. Gratitude is a key element in human relationships, serving both as a devotional duty toward God’s blessings and as a sign of moral excellence in interactions with others. This study employs descriptive and analytical methods to explore the conceptual and practical dimensions of gratitude in Ṣaḥīfat al-Sajjadīyah. Conceptually, gratitude is portrayed as an eternal guide for humanity, rooted in the everlasting nature of divine favors, with divine praise taking precedence over other forms of thanks. Practically, gratitude manifests in three dimensions: the creature’s gratitude toward the Creator; the Creator’s gratitude toward the creature; and gratitude among creatures. Quantitative analysis reveals that gratitude from the creature to the Creator is the most frequent, while gratitude among creatures is the least common. These findings underscore the central role of the creature’s gratitude to the Creator within spiritual and ethical life. The study also highlights the unique nature of divine gratitude and the meaningful, though less frequent, gratitude exchanged among creatures. This analysis deepens the understanding of gratitude’s multifaceted role in theological and interpersonal contexts, offering a comprehensive framework for its significance in Islamic spirituality.
