A Comparative Analysis of the Principles of Improving the Quality of Life in the Supplications of the Qur'an, Sahifah Sajjadiyah, and Positive Psychology
Abstract
The quality of life has various physical, psychological, and social dimensions that encompass a wide range of an individual's life. From the perspective of positive psychologists, quality of life is a multifaceted, relative concept, influenced by time, place, and individual and social values. This approach aims to foster happiness and life satisfaction by introducing positive changes in significant areas such as health, self-respect, goals and values, income, work, leisure, and more. Based on this, positive psychologists have proposed principles for improving quality of life. Through reflection on the supplications in the Qur'an, elements can be found that align with some of these principles. Considering the inseparability of the Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt, similar components can also be identified in the words of the Infallibles (peace be upon them). Accordingly, the present study investigates the components extracted from the supplications of the Qur'an and the Sahifah Sajjadiyah that correspond with the aforementioned principles. This investigation is carried out using a partial comparative method and anthropological analysis, along with graphical modeling tools based on complexity analysis. The findings of this research, while acknowledging many similarities, confirm that the concepts related to improving the quality of life in the Qur'an and the supplications of Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) are more attuned to the existential dimensions of the human being, and exhibit a structural and natural order as opposed to the artificial and behavioral order seen in the stated psychological principles.
