A Philosophical Explanation of the Foundations Derived from Sahifa Sajjadiya and the Validation of Philosophical Principles through It
(With Emphasis on the Foundations of Transcendent Philosophy)
Abstract:
The first prayer of Sahifa Sajjadiya contains precise references to anthropological themes (the soul and resurrection), and the knowledge embedded in this prayer aligns with key rational and philosophical principles in this regard. In the present study, using a descriptive-analytical method and a philosophical approach, an effort has been made to extract and explain the philosophical foundations and principles related to the issues of “soul and resurrection” from this prayer. The findings of the study indicate that the first prayer of Sahifa Sajjadiya employs six philosophical foundations related to anthropology, namely: the permanence of the soul; the infusion of knowledge into human beings by God; the existence of the intermediate world (Barzakh) and the influence of human actions on one’s states therein; the superiority of human beings over other creatures; the multi-leveled nature of human life; and the relationship between the soul and the body. The study concludes that through careful analysis of authentic transmitted texts and established prayers, many philosophical foundations can be substantiated and validated—thus further affirming the credibility of proven philosophical principles and emphasizing the harmony between divine teachings and philosophical doctrines.
