Intertextual Interaction of the Sahifa Sajjadiyah with the Quran in the Supplication for the Completion of the Quran
Abstract:
One of the most important semantic theories in the past decades is the theory of intertextuality, which examines the relationships between different texts and how they relate and interact, leading to the creation of a new text. According to this theory, each text becomes a new context of transformed texts. Based on this theory, the interaction between the verses of the Holy Quran (as the hidden text) and the supplications of the Sahifa Sajjadiyah (as the present text) can be investigated and examined. Imam Sajjad’s (AS) constant familiarity with the Quran and his connection with and influence from the Word of God have provided the basis for the interaction between the hidden text (the Quran) and the present text (the Sahifa). Therefore, in many cases, a proper understanding of the supplications of the Sahifa Sajjadiyah is not possible except in the light of understanding their relationship with the Quran. This research seeks to explore the intertextual relationships of Supplication 42 of the Sahifa Sajjadiyah (known as the Supplication for the Completion of the Quran) with the Holy Quran in order to gain a new semantic horizon of this supplication. The method used in this research is descriptive-analytical. The results of this research indicate that the majority of the intertextual relations between the Sahifa Sajjadiyah and the Quran are structural and take the form of parallel negation, in which Imam Sajjad (AS), due to his deep connection with the Quran, was able to create a kind of stable harmony between his words and the absent text and establish a conscious interaction with it.
