Identifying and Explaining the Educational Process of Prayer from the Perspective of the Teachings of Imam Sajjad (AS)
Abstract
The Sahifa Sajjadiya is replete with the educational prayers of Imam Sajjad (AS). However, there is a need to extract the correct educational process of praying in order to fully benefit from divine forgiveness and response. The aim of the present study is to identify and explain the educational process of prayer using the passages of the Sahifa Sajjadiya. This qualitative research was conducted using the content analysis method, and the data was categorized and organized through MAXQDA software. The results of the study revealed a three-stage educational process for prayer, which consists of truth-seeking, presenting the request, and forgiveness and response, respectively. The truth-seeking stage was examined in two parts: (1) insight into the truth of the giver (God's power, divine kindness and mercy, God's knowledge, and God's independence) and (2) the identity of the supplicant (human insignificance, human vulnerability, human dependence, and human poverty). The stage of effective presentation of the request is explained in two parts: (1) effective personal request (paying attention to the type and proper form of the individual's request) and (2) effective collective request (seeking the welfare and improvement of others, refraining from presenting one's request to others, seeking one's dignity before others, and making a joint request for oneself and others). The stage of forgiveness and response is explained in two parts: (1) forgiveness and divine gift (the comprehensiveness and vastness of divine forgiveness and kindness, the greatness and majesty of divine gifts and forgiveness, the ease of divine forgiveness, divine giving as an act of grace, divine giving and forgiveness without expectation, and divine giving with wisdom and expedience) and (2) divine response (the ease of response within the vast scope of divine mercy, and the divine guarantee in fulfilling requests).
