Investigating and Analyzing the Methods of Dealing with the Evil Eye in Narrations
Belief in the influence of the evil eye is one of the common beliefs among different ethnic groups. For a long time, people have taken various measures to prevent and ward off the harm caused by the evil eye. This article aims to answer the question: What solutions are provided in Islamic culture to confront this challenge? To address this, the study employs an analytical-descriptive method and utilizes library sources to explore Shia narrative heritage. Relevant narrations have been collected, analyzed, and reviewed, with their validity determined. In religious culture, the most significant method of preventing and treating the effects of the evil eye is based on prayer and communication with God. However, most of the prayers against the evil eye suffer from textual and documental weaknesses that reduce their reliability. Sources such as Tibb al-A'imma (a.s.), Makarem al-Akhlaq, and some later works like Misbah al-Kaf'ami and Bihar al-Anwar contain the largest collection of narrations and supplications related to the evil eye. A significant portion of these narrations has been derived or adapted from Sunni sources. Nevertheless, some of the supplications for warding off or treating the effects of the evil eye, which are acceptable in terms of content, can still be utilized.
